History

History

Coppola is a family name long associated with the Western New York business community. The family established its early foundation in the building materials industry through a lumber company founded in Buffalo, New York, in 1958. In the mid-1960s, a major fire severely damaged the company’s lumber yard. In response, the family’s next generation assumed an active role in rebuilding operations. The business ultimately recovered, expanded, and diversified over time. As the family’s interests evolved, they expanded into stock and commodity trading and speculation, laying the groundwork for a growing focus on financial markets and developing. Over time, the family’s securities portfolio came to exceed the size of the original lumber enterprise, reflecting a structural shift in both expertise and focus.  This environment informed the next generation. James Philip Coppola III, Managing Partner of Baron Point Financial Group, developed an early interest in the securities industry, including trading, fund management, and dealmaking. His work has been shaped by a longstanding focus on institutional investing and capital formation.
